Stuffy Nose Remedies

A stuffy nose can get in the way of work, play and most of all sleep. You may not be able to lie down and rest because of a stuffy nose. There are many reasons why a person has stuffy nose; it could be because of a cold, allergies and nasal irritation. There are stuffy nose remedies you can do at home, these remedies have been known to work but if your condition persists or turns for the worse then you need to consult a medical expert immediately.
• Boil water and add a pinch of salt in it. As the water cools, sniff the vapors that emit. You may use a towel to cover your head to inhale the vapors completely.
• Add moisture in your room air, you may use a humidifier to add significant moisture in room air. You may also use a pan of water; place it near your furnace or fireplace to add moisture instantly.
• Another stuffy nose remedy is to use natural decongestants found in the home. You may eat spicy foods or peppery foods that are known to liquefy secretions and treat a stuffy nose. Try making a decoction or tea from these hot foods and drink or gargle them as often as you like to treat stuffy nose.

• Remove things that accumulate dust in the room like stuffed toys, pillows, curtains, etc. you may also vacuum all surfaces that dust can accumulate. Remove cobwebs, vacuum heavy curtains and window treatments to remove dust. Do this weekly or daily if you live near a busy street.
• Hydrate yourself to thin mucus secretions. Drink more than 8 glasses of water in a day.
• Some people think that a natural stuffy nose remedy is to blow your nose to clear it out. This can only irritate your nose making it more clogged in the process.
• Lying on your side when you sleep can instantly provide relief but this is only temporary. When you lie on your right, your left nostril may clear up and vice versa. You may do this each night but you may still need to find a permanent relief for your stuffy nose.
• Lemon tea is a great to drink when you have a stuffy nose. Sip and inhale warm lemon tea; allow the fumes to swell inside your mouth and enter your nasal cavity. This will instantly remove stuffy nose.
• Inhale balms or Vicks to relieve stuffy nose instantly. Place a small amount of Vicks vaporub onto a piece of cotton and place it against your nose. Take a deep breath and inhale the medicated vapors. Never place balms inside your nose or inside your oral cavity; it may damage the delicate linings of y our mucus membranes and nasal passages.
• Try exercising to sweat it out. Physical activity may help increase blood flow onto the many parts of the body as well as the nasal cavity, relieving stuffy nose.
